Jenny Fax Roller×Skate Club
Photographed in Tokyo in 2021, the zine “Jenny Fax Roller×Skate Club” is a collaboration between Chinese-born photographer Fish Zhang and Taiwanese fashion designer Shueh Jen-Fang, founder of the fashion label Jenny Fax.
Inspired by borrowed and own memories, “Jenny Fax Roller×Skate Club” offers a playful interpretation of 80s and 70s femininity, with models photographed in the city and at a roller-skate club. The deep slip into a past time extends to the clothes as much as it does to the photographs, which mimic the look and style of 80s teenage fashion magazine, and even the design, with some photographs cut out and pasted onto the pages similar to collage sticker books. The positive vibes throughout the book mirror Shueh Jen-Fang’s philosophy as a fashion designer–clothes that encourage ordinary girls to express themselves.
