Haru
Chan Wai-Kwong’s photobook “Haru” is dedicated entirely to a single girl, his muse, called Haru. “I met two girls, Yaya and Haru. Then I fell in love with Yaya and photographed Haru!”
Taking the form of a photographic record, “Haru” shows Chan Wai-Kwong’s relationship with the girl and follows their (sexual) exploration of each other. But in addition to the more explicit photographs, Chan Wai-Kwong also includes photos of them in everyday situations – eating icecream together, riding the subway. Towards the end, “Haru” and Chan Wai-Kwong meet in a photostudio to create a Hajime Sawatari-inspired series of color photographs.
