In this collaboration with metalcraft artist Yumi Nakamura, photographer Takashi Homma explores the humble beauty of the kettle. In photographs whose colors and tones accentuate the tactile and the physical, Homma follows the process from metal block to finished kettle formed through Yumi Nakamura’s skill and sensibilities. In contexts and environments, the kettle – also a key item for tea making – changes shapes and spaces, takes the center stage or forms part of a scenery, never without character. A visual homage to ancient crafts, modest beauty and traditional aesthetics.
