"PHOTOGRAPH" collects the photographs taken by artist Jiro Takamatsu between 1974-1991, under the name "Photographs of Photographs." Takamatsu is known as a visual artist, but he was also interested using photography. In "Photographs of Photographs," his only series of photography, he re-photographed some of his own family photos. In some shots the photograph is lying on a table, or hung up on a wall, while in others it's in someone's hand. In each image, though, the photograph is positioned in such a way that the original image is slightly distorted. Often, light is bouncing off of the reflective surface of the print, just at the point towards which one's eyes are drawn. Technically sharp and printed in rich monochrome, "PHOTOGRAPH" is a thought-provoking experiment about the limits of photography.
