Michio Yamauchi is drawn to photograph some of the world’s most populated cities. In "Dhaka" he documents the growing capital of Bangladesh, tenth largest in the world with a population of 15.5 million people. The book includes both colour and black and white images, resulting in a thought provoking dynamic. Both the city and its inhabitants are the subjects. Yamauchi captures colours, landscapes and homes in intimate detail, revealing the life and personality of each individual within. The result is a photographer’s document; portrait of a city that is bustling with activity but at the same time reveals stolen moments of reflection.
