Session Work

Tomo JIDAI

Publisher: Thousand

“Session Work” is the first photobook to bring together significant works by Japanese hairstylist Tomo Jidai, who has been active on the world stage in a career spanning 25 years. Art direction is by creative director Fabien Baron, who has worked on a number of projects in the fashion world. The title of the book refers to the sessions that took place between the artist and numerous world-renowned creatives.

"The miraculous work is created by a session that combines the wisdom and mood of the art director, photographer, stylist, hair stylist, makeup artist, model, and everyone involved in the shoot,” says the artist.

Sessions include work with world-famous photographers—such as Patrick Demarchelier, Craig McDean, Steven Klein, Josh Olins—and stylist Karl Templer, who has directed runway shows for Dior, Valentino, and sacai at Paris Fashion Week, as well as Alastair Mckimm, current editor-in-chief of i-D Magazine. This publication is a timeless collection of photographs that will guide aspiring fashion creators and young Japanese creators alike who dream of becoming active on the world stage.
