Decades No.1 2000_20 Issue
10 available covers, chosen at random
Initiated by Japanese photographer Ai Iwane, the new photography magazine “Decades” spans cultures and bridges gaps in time. In a pensive mood during one of the corona lockdowns of 2020, Iwane rediscovered a friend who had passed away in photographs taken twenty years ago, smiling, traveling, being alive. She invited other contemporary photographs to present their look at the world in 2020 and juxtapose it with whatever they were doing in 2000.
With photographers like ERIC from Hong Kong, Antoine D’Agata from France, Seung Woo Back from South Korea, Mandela Hudson from the USA and Miyako Ishiuchi or Ryuichi Ishikawa from Japan, the contributors cover many different cultures, age groups and lived experiences. Giving each individual artist the necessary space to present their series as well as their thoughts in writing, “Decades” first issue manages to show true interest in the viewpoints of its contributors.
