When you watch these birds - with their piercing eyes grotesque feet, the luxuriant plumage covering them - you feel the presence of genes harking back to primeval times. They look envious of the birds in splendid flight above, the way they outstretch their long necks to gaze up at the sky. Being here among these supple creatures, it is almost as though an ancient timbre has resounded and you have slipped back in time. I could not help myself from approaching them, to touch those scaly claws, and to check out that waver in space and time.
