Japanese photographer Kazuyuki Kawaguchi presents the eighth edition of his ongoing “Prospects” series.
In these photographs, Kawaguchi focuses on places and their unique locality. With a preference for rural towns and cities past their prosperous prime, Kawaguchi documents and explores the effects of ongoing economic decline. But rather than a documentation of social problems, desolation or degrowth, “Prospects” is more interested in capturing idiosyncracies, the sentimental charme, and the uniquely Japanese beauty of these locations.
The images in “Prospects Vol. 8” have been photographed between 2018 and June 2023.
