6 Collotype Prints

This portfolio of collotype prints features six different images from Chieko Shiraishi’s series “Shimakage.” Created using an old Japanese retouching technique known as ‘zokin-gake’ or ‘rag-wiping’, Shiraishi’s photographs of scenes taken on islands and cities around Japan evoke a sense of nostalgia, loss, and fading memories. The six images included in this portfolio are titled Staircase, Cactus, Ferris Wheel, Firework, Snow Day, and Coat.
