“Daido Silk” delivers 45 of Daido Moriyama’s best and most important photographs from his long career in stunning quality. Created with great care and attention, each page has been silkscreen-printed and features unprecedented visual depth and gradation. The photographs were selected from Moriyama’s most representative series from the past 50 years (including more recent works such as “View from the Laboratory”) and arranged in chronological order.
“Daido Silk” includes an afterword by Daido Moriyama (included in Japanese & English translation). Limited to 500 copies (each book is numbered).
“I fondly remember that scene at the venue of my exhibition in Roppongi, where the life-sized images of motorbikes that I had covered the walls with wre freshly silkscreen-printed and thus filling the place with the smell of wet ink.
All this happened at a time when I had put conventional photo printing aside, and channeled all my enthusiasm into silkscreen printing. The kick that I was getting from rubbing ink into the delicate mashes of tightly stretched silk was second to none, and so I continued to print my favorite images to my heart's content.”
