For his 60th birthday, Koji Onaka looks back at his childhood.
Originally published in 2011, Koji Onaka has re-issued his photobook “Long time no see”, including new images, for the 60th anniversary of his own birth. The book consists of photographs of Koji Onaka as a child, taken by his father (an avid photographer) in black-and-white and colorized by Onaka in Photoshop. They are photos never meant to be published; Onaka being cuddled by his mother, the family posing to commemorate a holiday, Onaka as a toddler sitting on his father’s motorbike.
“Little pictures that I’ve seen since I was a child. I made them larger, added colors, and then I saw so much in them. I have never looked at single photographs for such a long time.” (from the artist’s statement)
