Koji Onaka'sUmimachiis dedicated to the victims of the Great Higashinihon Earthquake of March 2011. Within this publication is a selection of images of the coastal towns of the Sanriku district which Onaka had taken from 1991-1993. The landscapes captured preserve the memory of those that were lost as well as the areas that were destroyed by the earthquake and tsunami. Onaka's photographs beautifully preserve what was once was by using the very essence of photography in preserving an image and conserving a memory.
