Brothers consists of two short books of 60 pages each, in which Kwong portrays the lives and the relationship of a pair of young boys with remarkable warmth and sensibility. For the opening pages of one of the books, Kwong follows one of the brothers as he experiments, with the seriousness only permitted when playing, with a camera on a playground and juxtaposes the child’s snapshots with Kwong’s photos. Other photos show the brothers goofing off, pulling faces, misbehaving in a restaurant, consoling each other. With his photographs, Kwong manages to capture his two subjects in all their seriousness and carefreeness.
