Photographed in black and white, Chan Wai Kwong’s _Tenderness of a 19yr Girl _captures the intimacies shared between Chan Wai Kwong and a 19 year old girl whom he had dated. Published to coincide with Chan Wai Kwong’s exhibition of the same works for the Hong Kong International Photo Festival in 2012, the photographs within playfully reflect a visual narrative which explores the sexual relationship between Chan Wai Kwong and his girlfriend. Guided by Chan’s lens the viewer directly views each image within the series from the point of view of the photographer, following along the journey of the relationship as time passes and more intriguingly presenting the narrative of growth from adolescence to adulthood from the beginning of the images to the final photographs.
